9:00 - 10:30 : Workshops
- WIRwerden (Prof. Dr. Lysann Zander)
The Project: The social integration of newly arrived children and adolescents poses a challenge for many schools. The newly arrived children also report difficulties in building friendships with children who have grown up in Germany. Due to these described challenges, the program WIRwerden was developed.
- DaZ/DaF Workshop (Ketevan Zhorzholiani-Metz)
This workshop focuses on linguistic challenges in subject teaching from the perspectives of German as a first, second, and foreign language. Using vivid examples, it shows how easily analogical thinking can be misleading and how strongly subject understanding depends on linguistic differentiation.
The workshop provides practical impulses for systematically integrating language awareness into subject teaching.

Theatre education with students, who also learn German as a second language, has it’s very own kreative potential, which is supposed to be generated and deepend while on rehearsal.
Instead of problematising non-fluent communication, it is about finding an artistic approach to the specific circumstances by empowerung the players to speak up for themselfes and others on stage.
This workshop gives an insight into the practice of theatre-based language teaching.

9:00 - 16:30 : Conference - Good Education for Our Shared Future
Good Education for Our Shared Future – Together in Diversity
Planned and carried out by uniplus
Lower Saxony is a diverse federal state with a long history of migration. Children and young people attending schools today are more diverse than ever in terms of their backgrounds and identities. To ensure equal participation in education regardless of origin or social status, it is essential to consistently pursue the goal of creating a humane, participatory, and discrimination-critical education system.
Successful participation in education is essential both as a foundation for individual well-being and for social participation and social cohesion in a democratic society. This event creates a diverse space for dialogue, reflection, and action, aiming to discuss visions, pathways, and structures for improving education in a migration society and to develop concrete perspectives for Lower Saxony. To this end, an alliance led by civil society organizations brings together stakeholders from education, public administration, academia, and civil society across Lower Saxony. The goal is to collaboratively develop concrete perspectives and formulate educational policy recommendations that will be strategically pursued following the conference.
Prof. Dr. Karim Fereidooni (Professor of Social Science Education at Ruhr University Bochum) will deliver the keynote address on the topic of “Diversity Sensitivity in Society and Educational Institutions.” During the workshop phase, participants will have the opportunity to engage with a range of topics, including anti-racist school development, trauma-sensitive schools, and many others. A detailed overview of the workshop topics and information about the workshop facilitators can be found here (link in German).
