Conditions for the Participation in Professional Development Courses of the Competence Centre for Teacher Professional Development

Herewith we would like to inform you about the conditions and regulations for the Professional Development Courses, as well as the registration procedure in the Competence Centre for Teacher Professional Development at Leibniz Universität Hannover.   • Addressee

    Our Professional Development Offers are aimed at the following people:

    • Teachers at Public Schools
    • Teachers, who are on leave to work at alternative schools in accordance with §§ 152, 155 NSchG
    • Non-teaching staff of public schools
    • Educators of the Study Seminars in the Cities of Braunschweig, Salzgitter and Wolfsburg as well as of the counties Gifhorn, Goslar, Helmstedt and Wolfenbüttel
    • Teachers of independent schools who are not on leave from state service
  • Announcements

    The Professional Development Offers are published on the event databank VedaB. Schools are being informed of the events via e-mail. The announcements contain detailed information about the courses. These “Conditions for the Participation in Professional Development Courses of the Competence Centre for Teacher Professional Development” are a component of these announcements.

  • Registration

    You can register solely over the Event Databank. This online registration is an absolute prerequisite for the following processing steps, e.g. for creating attendance lists and attendance certificates. The current accuracy of the information stored in the database is of great importance. In addition to first name, surname and e-mail, the school number must also be entered.
    In the course of the online registration it must be confirmed that the approval of the superior office has been received. In the case of events for which a fee is charged, a declaration of assumption of costs is also required.
    The registration deadline stated in the announcement must be observed. Registrations after the registration deadline can only be considered if free places are available or if the event did not have to be cancelled due to insufficient registrations.

  • Considerations of Disablities/Restrictions (i.a.w. §81 par. 4 no. 2 SGB IX)

    Persons with restrictions/disabilities are asked to indicate in the "Comments" section of their registration what precautions are necessary to ensure that the disabilities can be taken into account by the organisation at the venue, e.g. barrier-free access.

  • Approval by the superior Authority

    Approval of participation through the superior authority (usually the head of the school) is a prerequisite for registration to a professional development event and the security of service. This is also valid for teachers on leave. With the online-registration, you need to confirm that this approval has been granted. The decision on exemption from teaching and on the teachers' share of the costs is taken by the superior authority. An application for approval of a business trip (initial and continuing training trip) must be submitted to the superior department.

  • Invitation

    The Competence Centre for Professional Development of the Leibniz Universität Hannover sends out invitations by e-mail about two weeks before the start of the event. The registered teacher and the school stored in the event database are informed at the same time.
    With the sending of the invitation by the competence centre for professional development the registration becomes binding for both sides. Participation is not possible without the official invitation.

  • Withdrawal
    • Until you receive the official invitation to the Professional Development course, it is possible to withdraw your registration without incurring costs. In this instance, you can cancel on the Vedab databank. Alternatively, you can contact the competence centre for professional development of the Leibniz University Hannover via e-mail or phone. If the cancellation reaches the competence centre for professional development, before the official invitation has been send, you incur no costs.

    • Cancellations after the registration deadline or after the official invitation has been issued do not release the participant from the payment of participation fees. This also applies to absences due to illness. Cancellations made directly with the course instructor do not release the participant from the obligation to pay. The sending school or office will be invoiced for the actual costs incurred up to the maximum of the full participation costs.

    • In case of prevention, a suitable substitute can be named for the person registered with all necessary data. The change must be notified to the Competence Centre for Teacher Training by e-mail. In this case there will be no cancellation costs.

  • Travel Expense Reimbursement

    The reimbursement of the travel expenses of the participants in paid events can be made from the school budget according to the school's decision (cf. Budgetary requirements for the school budget, RdErl. d. MK dated 14.12.2007 -SVBl. 2008, p. 7).

  • Participation Certificate

    Participants confirm their participation at the professional development event with their signature of the attendance list. They receive a participation certificate at the end of the event, or after the last appointment of the event series.

  • Oversubscription
    • If the number of registrations exceeds the number of places on offer, the right of co-determination for employees in Lower Saxony's state service requires the participation of the school district staff council, the equal opportunities officer and, if applicable, the trusted teacher for the severely disabled of the Lower Saxony state school authority. The persons not considered during the selection procedure will be informed of the decision and, if applicable, of an alternative date.

    • In the event of a significant oversubscription, the Competence Centre for Professional Development at Leibniz Universität Hannover will endeavour to offer a further event on the same topic in good time. In the case of a new registration, the persons not considered will be given preferential treatment within the registration period if they refer to the rejection received in the "Bemerkungen" (Remarks) field when registering.

  • Event Cancellation

    The competence centre for professional development at the Leibniz University Hannover retains the rights for cancellation of the event (f.e. because of illness of the event leader or too little participants). In this case there will be no incurred costs. Participation fees already received at the time of cancellation will be refunded.

  • Contract and Payment Partners
    • The contractual and payment partner is generally the school or office. All public schools in Lower Saxony are equipped with budgets that can be managed autonomously and which serve, among other things, to finance professional development events (see RdErl. d.MK of 14.12.2007 "Budgetary requirements for the school budget").

    • In the case of paid events, the amount of the participation costs is shown in the announcements. Invoices are issued to the schools or offices together with the invitation.

    • From 01.01.2016, payment of the participation fees can be made via the bank collection procedure from the school current account (see RdErl. d. MK v. 1.9.2009 "Management of current accounts by schools", SVBl. 10/2009, p.377, and RdErl. d. MK v. 17.10.2013 "Management of current accounts by schools", SVBl. 10/2013, p.434).
