Important note
BIKO-LAMB requires a specific sequence of modules, starting with Module A. You can therefore only have Module D recognised for BIKO-LAMB if it was completed after Module A.

Support with finding an internship
The aim of the work placement is to gain an insight into areas of work outside the German school system. For this reason, work placements in Germany can only be undertaken at non-school organisations. Abroad, gaining an insight into other school systems can broaden one’s horizons. If the work placement takes place abroad, it is therefore also possible to undertake it at a school. Here you will find examples of work placement organisations in Germany and abroad.

Potential internship organisations
We are a small charity in Hanover which, amongst other things, helps unaccompanied refugee youths who are new to Germany and do not yet have a place at school to learn German. We tailor our support to the young people’s needs and try to prepare them as well as possible for school. At the same time, we play a key role in their integration.
At the moment, we are looking for support with literacy, in the A1.1 and A1.2 language courses, and, where required, with providing tuition. The duration, the focus of study for your placement with us and the working hours can be arranged on an individual basis.

The German Department at Silpakorn University in Thailand is looking for two interns to work in the field of German as a Foreign Language (DaF) and German Studies. The campus is situated in Nakhon Pathom (around 50 kilometres from Bangkok) within the grounds of a former palace complex.
The interns’ main task is to teach German for around six hours a week, primarily conversation (levels A2–B2). In addition, they will support the work of the German Department and maintain close contact with the students.
The university provides interns with a monthly allowance of 4,500 baht (approx. 120 euros), which should cover accommodation costs. The cost of living is significantly lower overall than in Europe. A scholarship may be applied for to support the internship.

- December 2026 – March 2027
- July 2027 – October 2027
Requirements:
- Native language: German
- Degree programme (not yet completed): German as a Foreign Language, German Studies
- Interest in cultural exchange with Thai students

The Ukrainian Association of Lower Saxony e.V. is a registered non-profit organisation. During your work placement, you will gain an insight into various areas of work and different departments, such as the Education and Advice Centre and the Humanitarian Centre.

The ISK is one of the largest language schools in Hanover. Every year, more than 1,500 people learn German and foreign languages at the ISK. We offer interns the opportunity to gain practical experience in the field of German as a foreign language at our school. You can sit in on our morning, afternoon and evening courses. Our teachers will give you an insight into their methodological and didactic work. With us, you can also gain your first practical teaching experience. In addition to teaching, our interns support the office with student and course administration. Internships are available for a minimum duration of 4 weeks.

If you’d like to get a taste of the day-to-day work of a German teacher in adult education, experience German as a Foreign Language (DaF) lessons first-hand and perhaps even help shape them, you’re welcome to apply for an internship with us at the Volkshochschule Hannover in the Integration Department. You’ll gain an insight into the target group, the advisory work and the teaching activities of the department.

The Elisabeth von Goldstone Academy in Hanover is an AZAV-certified educational institution with a focus of study on German as a foreign and second language. It does not see itself as a traditional language or integration course, but combines language teaching with aesthetic and performative practice. The programme is based on the ‘scene-based teaching method’ developed by Elisabeth von Goldstone, which views language as embodied action – arising from the interplay of voice, body, perception and inner attitude.
Trainees gain insights into working with diverse learning groups and experience language as a lived relational experience. They observe scene-based teaching sessions, participate in film-based reflective teaching processes and have the opportunity to develop their own teaching sequences. In doing so, they learn how language awareness, authenticity and presence interact in teaching situations and provide lasting support for learning processes.
The Academy offers both one-to-one and group tuition.
