Work Group on Integrating Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) into Teacher Education

Preparation of a discussion paper on the understanding of ESD in teacher education at LUH

Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) is recognised and promoted at LUH as a key cross-cutting theme. The Council has emphasised the importance of ESD and actively supports the establishment of a work group dedicated to integrating this important theme more effectively.

Under the leadership of Timo Holthoff, the LSE has already initiated several interlinked projects to advance the definition, community building and structural embedding of ESD. The “Teaching Change 2.0” project specifically allocates resources for a work group coordinated by Timo Holthoff and Dr Kathrin Otten. The main aim of this work group is to bring together individuals with an interest and/or expertise in ESD within teacher education.

Within the framework of this initiative, ESD is to be understood as an overarching context in the areas of research, teaching and knowledge transfer. All staff members and students are warmly invited to get actively involved in the work group and to contribute to shaping university practice in a sustainable way.
